bulletpornó és buta hangszerek: újabb iPhone-ajánló
A kevesebb több, a neon fényesebb, az elektronikus szervesebb, a halványpasztell szívmelengetőbb, a fehér-szürke-kék pedig az új fekete. Rácshálóval és illatanyagokkal írni zenét, rosszul hajlongani dotmátrixxal, mint a T.A.T.U. laposjapánmellbe hajlott elektro-epigonjai, játéktermi, arcot bevilágító vörös robbanásokra hajazó, érthetetlenre varázsolt akciókkal generátorokba robbanni, irodai kockaasztaloknál üres órákban tervezett bulletpornót legyőzni hüvelykujjal a reggeli gyorsban, közben feszített fűrészfogtechnot hallgatni, hátha felébredsz, aztán azt mondod, mégsem kell drogoznod, hogy folyamatosan élénkszínnel meg ívfénnyel festett hullámokat meg poligonokat láss, mert egyébként is mindig, mindenhol azokat látod, így spórolunk meg súlyos napi ezreket-tízezreket. iPhone-válogatásunk következik, fent meg Нас не догонят, mert megérdemlem..Read more
Massacre). Fél szemmel azokat az oktatóvideókat nézem, amiből végre teljesen tiszta, hogy hogyan lehet dühödt, kövekkel telepakolt kávéautomata-basszust csinálni, a Reese basszust előszeretettel használja átcsavargatott változatban a Black Sun Empire meg a Noisia is, ami meg az ütemeket illeti, ott a lenti Fruity Loops oktató, érezzétek jól magatokat, én elvesztem, megint elkezdek zenét írni. Minden más mellett.

the chosen/virtual diva: blue and smoky cyberpunk reggaetón
IO9 had a compilation a few days ago entitled The Best And Worst Of Virtual Music Video Worlds, ranging from classic eighties filledvector Dire Straits to lightcycle ripoff Infernal. Here's an addition I managed to dig up on Slate - Puerto Rican reggaetón superstar Don Omar's music video The Chosen/Virtual Diva, according to the post, " features lots of icy-blue light, plumes of smoke, guys in lab coats, jackbooted women in leather, and Omar alternately strapped to a gurney and bellowing through a bullhorn." In fact, just what the doctor ordered. (In fact, if Don Omar's world is a virtual one, I'm being very poetic about it.)
matthew santoro scifi "offline" inspired by tool
There is nothing new under the sun and both the voudoun gods of the interwebs and Warren Ellis work hard to decrease your novelty and shock tolerance levels. But sometimes there's just something to keep you entertained. @vjesci just sent this over and it was both the morning coffee and the trailer for Matthew Santoro's movie Offline that scratched my brain and made me feel and look like interested.
According to the post on Fourtheye, Tool guitarist Adam Jones was a huge source of inspiration for the movie.
He basically said to look at every shot like a piece of art. If your going to put your name on something make sure its something YOU are happy with (emphasis on YOU) because if you truly consider it to be a piece of art then in a way it is a reflection of yourself.
Here's a brief synopsis on offlinemovie.com, enjoy.
purefold: webseries in the blade runner universe
IO9 breaks news on Purefold, a new webseries set in the Blade Runner universe. The project is backed up by the Scott family (Ridley Scott, being the original movie's director, his brother Tony and his son Luke), RSA Films (Scott's commercials company) and independent studio Ag8. The series will take place before the original movie's 2019 setting - the first episodes are most likely to take place in 2011. The five to ten minute shorts will actually be driven by reader input pulled in from FriendFeed - according to IO9, there might actually be some hope for Purefold to make its way to TV (or DVD). As the producers don't own the rights to the PKD novel BR is based upon (Do Androids Dream of Electroic Sheep?), you won't see any BR-specific characters or situations in the series.
Two very interesting things to note about Purefold. 1) RSA is reaching back to how the original movies used billboard ads in the cityscapes and now they're busy hooking up themselves with ad and marketing agencies. 2) Scott announced that the series will be released under Creative Commons, so basically you can remix and recut the episodes to your liking. According to IO9, Ridley Scott is the first major Hollywood director to embrace CC. (via io9)
nec crv43: curved display porn
Reality bites, especially with this 2880x900 px resolution 43" model, NEC's CRV43 that, quote, measures in with a 200 nits brightness rating, 10,000:1 contrast, 0.02ms "Rapid Response," covers 99.3% of the Adobe RGB color gamut, and packs at least one USB2.0 jack and DVI-D and HDMI 1.3 connectors, unquote. The 32:10 ratio puts you in the designer and out the gamer league and the 8000 dollar price tag will make you think about chopping up your colleagues and selling them via the Ukrainian body snatcher community portal to keep up with what the display porn lobby has to offer you. Armitage says (12:05):
"It was an extremely long moment.
Time stretched sluggishly like a bubblegum strip deep in crystal-clear honey.
Damage was resolute to write some reply but simply couldn't. Not even a word, a character, a byte. He was horribly, desperately and ultimately captured by the circumstances, never to be resolved or explained."
damage says (12:10):
"Then a message, an iridescent, golden-gleaming bee of information, slowly traversed the non-space over the sky the color of corroded asphalt. It felt like the last sip of espresso machine coffee laced with energy pills from a shifty Serbian off Nanjing lane, bitter, tainting and ultimately, sobering. His eyes returned from the Fraunhofer data glasses press release and realized where he was.
He was nowhere. Again."

damien walter free running showreel 2009
Google him and find nothing. Boing Boing is the first of the majors to report about free runner (and apparently not traceur) Damien Walter - who's someone completely different from fiction writer Damien G Walter. If running up that hill, running up that mountain and doing 540 flips before entering your car without opening its door makes you tick, this will make you rock hard. Enjoy. (via boingboing)
carl erik rinsch to direct new alien movie (confirmed)
Yes, dear meatbags. IO9 and Slashfilm both broke news on the Alien franchise that's being resuscitated by 20th Century Fox. The news originally come form Bloody Disgusting - according to them, Michael Costigan, Tony Scott and Ridley Scott himself are running with the project with commercial video director Carl Erik Rinsch to helm the whole thing. No word on whether this is a remake or a prequel or a sequel. Above, a video directed by Rinsch for Saturn. Very steampunkish, it was here before and he might not be a bad choice after all.
UPDATE 1: Tony Scott himself confirmed the news to Collider that Carl Rinsch is really directing a PREQUEL to the original Ridley movie and the project is getting in front of the cameras hopefully by the end of the year.
warhammer 40000: space marine battle trailer
Both Kotaku and Hardwired recently broke news on the new WH40K game entitled Space Marine - apparently Relic took over from THQ Australia, binned the third-person shooter elements, salvaged some parts and then decided to make an action-RPG hybrid for the XBOX360 and PS3 platforms. Kotaku says the original action title is ditched for good and I'm not entirely impressed by what I'm seeing in this trailer. After fighting my way through Gears of War 2, I wouldn't really settle for the graphics I'm seeing here. But then again, it all might just change.

But, publisher Chillingo says the developer did manage to sneak in all of the audio/visual synced up effects promised but not implemented at the time, where "music, environments, vocal samples, and sound FX are mixed in real-time and triggered in sync with the music while playing," with "a dynamic, sliding time scale where audio speed and pitch are warped in real-time when using the bullet.time hack." v: aliens are here and they need to look good
V, the alien invasion series premiering on ABC comes out with a trailer that gives away everything, as reported by io9. Here's the brief synopsis from Wikipedia:
The world awakens to find spaceships hovering over all major cities. Though the aliens claim to come in peace, some do not believe them. Homeland Security agent Erica Evans discovers that the aliens have plans to infiltrate our governments and businesses in a plot to take over the planet. Erica joins the resistance movement, which includes Ryan, an alien who wants to save humanity. However, the aliens have recruited earth's youth, including Erica's son, to serve unknowingly as spies.
nastybyte: one for the old memories
Baltimore-based NastyByte has a YouTube channel for her multi-camera concert shoots for bands like Psychic TV, Haujobb, Covenant, Ministry, Front Line Assembly, Front 242, Ayria, Razed in Black, Delerium, Plaid or Chemlab - basically anything we came to love as industrialists and EBM fans during the past decade. Which either means we're old farts or it means the new generation of the scene hasn't put anything noteworthy on our table. And we doubt that, because we have just received a few good albums in the past two months that made us smile. Two songs to make you remember.
blood: the last vampire real-live action movie trailer

johnny mnemonic: the deleted scenes
Unnecessary to order the Japanese DVD now. There are quite a few differences between the American version of Johnny Mnemonic that we all came to love and the Japanese one, considered to be the more obscure version - Wikipedia lists all of them. It's just been early this week I found the outtakes from the JM DVD.
neuromancer rescheduled, liv tyler in talks
Early this week, Production Weekly tweeted about Liv Tyler being in talks to star in the Neuromancer movie, the Joseph Kahn adaptation cyberpunk afficionados have criticized so openly for enrolling Hayden Christensen as Case. The movie's IMDB page lists noone at the moment - but if you've been following up on the news every now and then, you'll be delighted to notice that the 2009 screening date has been postponed until 2011. Although there's been no extra info added about Liv Tyler, the general consensus is that she's going to play Molly - even though the role of 3Jane could be more fitting.
This video above is a mock-up of the intro credits of Neuromancer and it's just how we would have wanted to see it up until the mid-nineties, I guess. The cast list is worth a peep: although it still lists Hayden Christensen as Case and makes no mention of Liv Tyler (obviously, the video's been uploaded to YouTube on the 30th of January), the names are self-explanatory and if you check the video comments, users came up with the same conclusions: Olga Kurylenko as Molly, Paul Bettany as Riviera, David Morse as Armitage, Peter Stormare as The Finn, Steve Buscemi as Dixie Flatline, Djimon Honsou as Maelcum, Christina Ricci as 3Jane, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hideo, Ian Holm as Ashpool - and, not surprisingly, Christopher Walken as Neuromancer (or as some believe, Wintermute).
